"When it comes to glass, I'm a babbler!" exclaims Martti Rytknen. "I have so many ideas and so many stories to tell that I find it hard to keep up. But working with glass was the best decision I ever made!" he concludes.
Martti is a playful storyteller whose work presents a challenge to the glass, both as material and as object. The humor he displays often brings a smile to the face of the onlooker. He uses a variety of glassmaking techniques to convey his message, including etching, blasting, engraving and cutting. He also creates art glass, mainly using traditional techniques such as Grail, Ariel and Ravenna.
Martti has designed the heavy crystal collections Triangle and Drop, and also Papillon, that floats on the table like a butterfly with outspread wings. His designs also include the Ramses Family pieces.
